Biography

Antonina is married to Tim James, her producing partner and co-founder of Rock Mafia. She and Tim live presently in Santa Monica, California.

Career

Antonina Armato is one of the many pop songwriters who started off their career in the mid-1980s and early 1990s and got through the rough patches of the increasingly pop-hostile mid-1990s to re-bound in the last decade or so. Armato's first hitmaking period concentrated on dance-pop and urban-contemporary R&B, including several hits (one chart-topper included) for Glenn Medeiros. A predictable slump, as discussed above, came when she had to come face to face with a public fatigued by dance-pop.

However, around the turn of the millennium, the "teen beat" or "tween-pop" phenomenon made professionally written pop songs hip again for a new, millennial audience. Hence, Armato and James were able to experiment with the new genre and write their first Top 40 hit together that was already for massive saturation airing on Radio Disney. This proved to be prophetic, for after several years of Armato's obscurity due to focusing on unreleased tracks from movie soundtracks. Armato and James re-teamed in 2006 and started a still-going concern writing mildly punk-pop-tinged hits for and with teenybopper superstars like Aly and AJ and Miley Cyrus, not to mention an assortment of High School Musical graduates.

She has written or produced over 25 Top Ten singles. She currently wrote and produced the top 5 single, "Love You Like a Love Song" for Selena Gomez and "I'm on a Roll" by Stefano Langone. Antonina has also co-written the platinum song "Naturally" from Kiss & Tell, Selena Gomez & the Scene's debut album.

She is also the co-owner and founder of Rock Mafia Records. She is mainly known for her songwriting roles with Disney stars. She has written songs with the Jonas Brothers, Hope 7, 78violet, Scott Cutler, and Richard Feldman, and wrote the Top 40 radio hit "Come Back To Me" for singer Vanessa Hudgens. She has co-written and produced Miley Cyrus's Top 10 singles "See You Again" and "7 Things" as well as her single "Fly on the Wall". She co-wrote the song, Potential Breakup Song, with 78violet, which Time and CNN named one of the Top Songs of 2007.

She has also co-written "Bet On It" from High School Musical 2, and "Right Here" from the album Meet Miley Cyrus. Armato produced and wrote Sick Puppies' newly released Top 5 Rock album Tri Polar. The first single "You're Going Down" reached Top Ten and climbing the charts.

Recently, Antonina is working with Adam Lambert and The Beach Girl5 - Now known as BG5. Rock Mafia wrote and produced Miley Cyrus first single, "Can't Be Tamed" which went top 10 on Billboard and #1 on iTunes. She also wrote and produced six additional tracks on Miley's new CD. She also produced Bonnie McKee's debut album Trouble along with Rob Cavallo.
