It premiered as the 2nd single of the soundtrack on Radio Disney's Planet Premiere on February 24th, 2012, and on iTunes on March 6th.

Background and composition

The song was the second single from the soundtrack Shake It Up: Live 2 Dance and was used on a special episode of Shake It Up, (Apply It Up) which was the first 2012 episode from Shake It Up. The song also has a little pitch from Selena Gomez & the Scene's single "Who Says." It has a nice touch of Gomez's song and also seems to have a nice dancing pitch like a club vibe or disco.

Music video

The music video was released on March 9, 2012 during an episode of Jessie. It features TTYLXOX by Bella Thorne, making a mash-up version. It was also released on YouTube and VEVO two hours after the original world premiere.

A short music video (which uses some parts of the mash-up music video a

Zendaya performed 'Something to Dance For' live at the White house Easter Egg Roll in April, 2012. Halfway through the song, she begins to introduce her band and dancers and that's when she stops singing for the whole performance. Zendaya's official youtube channel favorited the youtube video of her performance.
